With a high school graduation rate above the state average, and a variety of scholarships available to the four regional higher educational institutions, Polk County is committed to producing a skilled workforce for future generations. Additionally, local high schools and businesses work together to produce educated, advanced manufacturers in the automotive, healthcare and engineering industries. The county also uses tools and programs offered through Southeast Industrial Development Association (SEIDA) and Southeast Tennessee Development District (SETDD) to further develop Polk County's workforce.
Tennessee is leading the way in education reform by increasing the number of Tennesseans with college degrees or certifications through the Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect. As the first state in the country with these initiatives, Tennessee promises employers the support of highly skilled workers.

Our trained workforce is a result of our successful graduation rate. At 91%, Polk County ranks higher than the state average of 88.5%.
Postsecondary options include Cleveland State Community College, Lee University, Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Athens and Tennessee Wesleyan University.
